New Release: 10th
Anniversary Edition of Official Disability Guidelines
January 12th, 2005 – Work Loss Data Institute is pleased to announce release of the 10th anniversary edition of Official Disability Guidelines, the prevailing, evidence-based authority on expected disability duration and appropriate medical treatment in workers’ compensation and non-occupational disability cases. Providing for a safe and timely return to health and productivity, ODG 2005 serves in many capacities to healthcare providers, case managers, TPA’s, employers, insurers and workers' compensation authorities alike. Fully updated for 2005 based on an aggregate of over 10 million disability cases and a decade of research, the 10th edition of Official Disability Guidelines provides expected length of disability guidelines for every reportable condition, forecasting time away from work using indicators for severity, treatment, and job, along with a host of other features and supporting content like average costs and recommendations for work restrictions. Illness and injury benchmarking data is also provided to compare internal results with national norms, using state-of-the-art formulas like “Grading RTW 101” and “Outlier Percentage”, making ODG an industry framework for consistent performance measurement. The
ODG product line is further reinforced with the 2005 edition of ODG Treatment
in Workers’ Comp, fully updated based on a comprehensive and ongoing
medical literature review. Based
primarily on an ability to make tangible and accessible the results of important
and emerging medical studies to ensure appropriate patient care using best
available evidence, ODG Treatment has recently been adopted or mandated
for use in various jurisdictions across the country and throughout the world.
Perhaps most notable is the mandate in the State of Ohio by the Ohio
Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC). Ohio has one of the most competitive workers' comp systems in the
nation, echoed by the recent grant of a 20 percent bill dividend to Ohio
employers by the Workers’ Compensation Oversight Commission, based on a
recommendation from BWC. “This
10th anniversary edition of Official Disability Guidelines is
truly a milestone”, notes Senior Medical Editor, Charles W. Kennedy Jr. MD,
“a testament to the staying power of
evidence-based medicine in the management of disability and workers’ comp.”
Succinct, straightforward, complete, and authoritative, ODG 2005 is available in Web-based, CD-ROM & textbook formats, and is also licensed in raw data files for integration with internal claims management systems or for computer-automated benchmarking.
