Official Disability Guidelines 2004:
Evidence-Based Medical Library Hits Home
December 1st, 2003 – Work Loss Data Institute has now released the highly anticipated 2004 succession to the “ODG” product line, including the 9th edition of Official Disability Guidelines and the 2nd edition of ODG Treatment in Workers’ Comp. Together this medical library of disability duration and treatment protocols circles the bases for the workers’ comp and non-occupational disability markets, admittedly in continued need of evidence-based guidelines for defensible and effective management of return-to-work. Official
Disability Guidelines continues its tradition in the development and
presentation of comprehensive disability duration guidelines based on the
CDC’s National Health Interview Survey and OSHA’s Survey of Occupational
Injuries and Illnesses, the most complete and credible workforce health survey
instruments available and “the most direct form of evidence that can be
offered” under the Federal Rules of Evidence.
New for 2004 are fully updated and expanded Summary and Best Practice
Guidelines drawing from over 1.5 million new cases, and Causality Indicators for
determining work-relatedness. ODG Treatment in Workers’ Comp hit the ground running last year, and the 2nd edition looks to further break stride, with fully updated and expanded Treatment Protocols and Procedure Summaries formatted in a way to make tangible and accessible the results of important and emerging medical studies. While its Treatment Protocol offers the ideal treatment plans for each condition, the Procedure Summary provides a concise synopsis of the effectiveness of every treatment modality, hyper-linked directly into the studies on which it is based, in abstract form, which have been ranked, highlighted and indexed. The complete ODG product line is available in an integrated Web-based tool, as a textbook set, and is also licensed in raw database files for integration in any claims system. The 9th edition of Official Disability Guidelines is also sold separately in Web, CD-ROM, text and raw data formats. Together this comprehensive evidence-based medical library is “just what the doctor ordered” for an effective 2004 campaign, as an industry looks to eradicate the potholes of delayed recovery and excessive utilization. * * * Orders can be placed through Work Loss Data Institute online, or by phone, fax, or mail:
